This is the tragic story of Fito, a 20-year-old youth who was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered by paramilitary groups in Colombia in 2001. His narrative painfully illustrates the concept of "five disappearances": first, his abduction and subsequent concealment in a clandestine grave; second, a 15-year institutional neglect during which his mother passed away waiting for his remains, which were finally handed over to his siblings in 2016; third, the administrative bureaucracy that delayed his official registration as a victim and has denied reparation to his family; and lastly, social oblivion, where his memory fades and dissolves among the more than 150,000 missing persons in the country, remaining alive only in the hearts of his loved ones.
